Urine analysis

Urine samples are analysed in a quick, simple way by means of specific strips. First, the appearance of the urine is checked in terms of colour, clearness and concentration. Other parameters are then checked, including specific weight, pH and chemical composition: proteins, sugars, glucose, leukocytes and erythrocytes, nitrites, bile pigments, ketones, electrolytes (sodium, potassium and chlorine) and vitamin D. Urine tests are used to detect not only inflammation, pathologies or infections in the kidneys and urinary tract, but also other pathologies like metabolic disorders, diabetes and liver diseases.
