Following my grammar school diploma, I studied at the University of Catania, where I graduated in Medicine and Surgery. After that, I trained in Germany to specialise in maxillo-facial surgery at the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover. I then returned to Sicily and the University of Catania, where I obtained my second master’s degree in Dentistry and Dental prosthetics. The well-known link between oral and general health, both of which are also connected to nutrition, is what motivated me to delve deeper into the subject of nutrition and integrated medicine with its various areas of specialism, which have as their primary objective the achievement of general well-being and better quality of life.
The clinical aspect in its purest form is of great importance to me, even though it is now just a memory in modern medical practice, which is inspired by the “less is more” mantra. This kind of philosophy may sit well with many modern disciplines, but I don’t believe it is adequate in the medical field, where listening to patients remains crucial. It’s something that requires time and patience. In clinical practice, dialogue (from Greek Dia-logos “through speech”) is the most important patient-doctor interaction there is. If done correctly – with the anamnesis followed by a detailed physical examination, it leads in most cases to an accurate diagnosis. This is why, in my view, listening to patients sits at the top of the hierarchy of medical activities.
My area of specialism
My focus at ADLER Med Balance is on nutrition, epigenetics and stress therapy through relaxation techniques. In addition, I continue to practise oral surgery and periodontics at my family’s surgery in Acireale (Sicily).
Why choose ADLER Med ?
The ADLER Med philosophy provided me with the perfect environment to practise medicine according to my leading principles: Mens sana in corpore sano. Here, the whole therapeutic approach revolves around the individual, with tailor-made strategies that are oriented towards the best possible outcome. In other words, it’s all about the patient. Additionally, I think it’s every medical practitioner’s ambition to work in a perfectly organised environment with the latest in technology and equipment.
