Serum iron

Serum iron is a value expressing iron concentration in plasma, which is the fluid part of the blood. Iron is vital for cell formation as it helps oxygen bind to haemoglobin and reach every body area. Reduced levels of serum iron may be a sign of anaemia or disorders affecting the immune or nervous system.
