Prefrontal cortex

The prefrontal cortex, i.e. the anterior portion of the frontal lobe, is the largest of all the structures that make up the human brain. It is often described as the “brain director” as it coordinates the various cognitive processes and is responsible for the higher intellectual faculties, including those related to personality and motor activities as well as attention, rational thought, decision making and planning.
