DHEA-S (Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate)

DHEA-S is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It is sometimes referred to as the “youth hormone”, since its levels peak during youth and diminish as age progresses. This hormone is inversely related to cortisol: in situations of prolonged stress, the level of cortisol increases (if only initially) while DHEA-S decreases. DHEA-S promotes muscle mass growth, positively influences fat metabolism, keeps blood vessels clean, reduces inflammation and boosts the immune system. It also improves performance and helps stabilise mood with its antidepressant effects.
