Complete blood count
The complete blood count (or blood panel) provides basic information on blood composition. It is a useful diagnostic tool that enables various diseases and deficiencies to be detected.
The blood panel tests the following blood components for concentration:
Blood cells:
- Red blood cells (erythrocytes)
- White blood cells (leukocytes)
- Platelets (thrombocytes)
Haemoglobin (the red protein responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood)
Haematocrit (the percentage of red blood cells in the blood)
