Autonomic nervous system

The autonomic nervous system (aka vegetative nervous system) is the part of the nervous system that controls vegetative functions, i.e. unconscious bodily functions such as respiration, digestion, metabolism and homeostasis, as well as the functioning of organs like the heart, stomach, intestine and eye muscles.
